Background
----------
Bertram is the scion of a rural squire from Shropshire. The Emsworths are a collateral branch of the earls of Emsworth (the Threepwoods), but are not themselves noble. He was born in 1864 and is presently 25 years old.
Bertram was a small pudgy boy, not very strong and with only average athletic ability. In boarding school he was bullied mercilessly and developed a hatred of such behavior. He early learned to dissemble his remarkable brains and his love of science, especially chemistry (Being known for prowess in a field colloquially known as 'Stinks' was not, he found, a good way to avoid persecution).
Eventually He began to figure out ingenious roundabout ways to get back at his tormentors and gradually it became known that somehow it did not pay to 'jape with Emsworth'. He also developed a facade as the genial buffoon and managed to gain a certain amount of immunity by amusing the local bullies.
Bertram is very fond of the few genuine friends he did make as a boy and as a young man, like his cousin, the Honorable Galahad Threepwood (and whatever other childhood friends the GM wishes to introduce). He'll go to great lengths to help any friend in trouble.
When he left Oxford he took up a life as a traveling dilettante and toured the world. What no one but his faithful valet Wilkins knows is that Bertram is secretly the notorious criminal known as The Bee. So called because of the small drawing of a jaunty bee he leaves behind as his calling card. The Bee preys on criminals and those who have acquired their wealth by oppressing the weak and defenseless.
The choice of alias was to some extent prompted by the fact that his great invention, the sleep gas, uses honey as a key ingredient and that a small, but unmistakable odor of honey emanates from the gas.
Bertram is a light smoker and a moderate drinker. He doesn't really like the
taste of tobacco at all, and while he enjoys a glass of good wine or a snifter
of superior brandy, he absolutely detests being drunk.

Description: A slightly overweight, extremely well-groomed, impeccably dressed young man in his mid-twenties. He looks the typical English gentleman of the more frivolous type.

Wilkins
=======
Wilkins is the son of the Emsworths' game keeper. He was born in 1849 and is presently 40 years old. At the age of 16 he became a footman in the Emsworth household and when Bertie went up to Oxford, Wilkins went with him as his manservant. He is devoted to the "Young Master".
